Free First-Trimester Limited Ultrasound
Qualified patients of Women’s Clinic of Atlanta will receive a free first-trimester limited ultrasound. If you’re considering abortion, our free ultrasound can determine the viability and gestational age of the pregnancy and whether you’re eligible to receive an abortion.
The free ultrasound provides the first step to prenatal care for someone considering placing the child for adoption or parenting. Prenatal care provides regular check-ups throughout the course of the pregnancy that allow doctors or midwives to treat and prevent potential health problems and promote healthy lifestyles that benefit both mother and child.
What Is a Limited Ultrasound?
Rather than looking for potential problems with the pregnancy or determining the baby’s sex, a limited ultrasound is only used to determine:
- Viability of the pregnancy
- Location of the pregnancy
- The gestational age, or how far along the pregnancy has progressed
Why Should I Have an Ultrasound?
If your pregnancy is unplanned or unwanted and you’re seeking an abortion, Georgia abortion providers require a limited ultrasound to determine the pregnancy’s viability before the abortion procedure can be performed. The ultrasound will also determine how far along your pregnancy is, which will determine what types of abortion procedures are legally available to you.
If you plan on carrying the baby to term and parenting or placing the child for adoption, an ultrasound will provide your future healthcare providers with the information they’ll need to provide the best care possible for you and your baby.
